BIO-ON FIRST IN THE 2014 TOP 20 LISTED COMPANIES WITH THE BEST REPUTATION ONLINE.
Chart of companies listed on AIM Italia in 2014 drawn up by Reputation Manager
Bio-on tops Reputation Manager's chart of "2014 Top 20 listed companies" with a score of 73.2 out of 100. Triboo Media in second place with 64 and Mail Up third with 62.2. "The companies listed on AIM Italia in 2014," explains Reputation Manager CEO Andrea Barchiesi, "generally have a good reputation. These are companies operating in innovative sectors such as renewable energy and digital, so they tend to benefit from the positive reputation of the sector as a whole. An excellent example that helps us understand how a brand's reputation is a complex system that influences and is itself influenced by more or less broad internal and external factors. While the reputation is positive, if we look at the actual use of digital tools we see that there is very little use of social media channels (only half of the companies have an official profile on at least one social network) and some don't even have a page on Wikipedia. So it's a question of boosting online communication and consciously managing it in order to increase "spontaneous" positive results."
DIGITAL IDENTITY AND REPUTATION
Digital identity is determined by the content that is immediately and "historically" associated with brands on search engines, which is therefore the first content that searchers come across. More generally, online reputation is influenced by comments that, aside from search engine indexing, can be found by users in a wide variety of channels (blogs, forums, news sites, newspapers, social networks, etc.).
Bio-On tops the list with 73.2 points. The manufacturer of eco-compatible products has a solid reputation: with as much as 86% positive and no damaging content it is considered an excellent example of a company that has placed sustainability and innovation at the heart of its development and business model, certifying its biodegradable plastic produced from sugar beet and extending its research into new materials (e.g. wood waste and domestic waste) through partnerships with universities and energy providers.

BIODEGRADABLE PLASTICS FROM BIODIESEL PRODUCTION BY-PRODUCTS.
Bologna, 16 June 2015 - Bio-on S.p.A., the leader in eco-sustainable chemical technologies, announces its completion of another phase in the development of the technology for making PHAs from glycerol and today stands ready to grant licenses for this new technology to realise the first PHAs bioplastic production plants using biodiesel by-products.
Glycerol, also known as crude glycerol, is a waste product of biodiesel production and is present in large quantities around the world. Europe produces approximately 4 million tons per year - a figure that is constantly increasing. Its use as crude glycerol is problematic and over-production has caused its value to slump. In recent years, Bio-on has developed a technology for using crude glycerol in the production of high-performing PHAs biopolymers (described at IPO). This interesting by-product is added to others developed by Bio-on obtained from sugar beet, sugar cane and potatoes.

BIODEGRADABLE PLASTICS FROM POTATO WASTE FOR HIGH-TECH APPLICATIONS
Bologna, 16 March 2015 - Bio-on S.p.A., the leader in eco-sustainable chemical technologies, and Pizzoli S.p.A., Italy's largest operator in the potato sector, will collaborate to build Italy's first PHAs bioplastic production plant using waste product from the potato agro-industrial process.
The collaboration, signed by the two companies, arises from Bio-on's laboratory research and Pizzoli's experience in potato transformation, and aims to build a plant producing 2,000 ton/year of PHAs, expanding to 4,000 ton/year in the future. PHAs, or polyhydroxyalkanoates, are bioplastics that can replace a number of traditional plastics currently made with petrochemical processes using hydrocarbons. PHAs guarantee the same thermo-mechanical properties with the advantage of being completely naturally biodegradable.
"It's a big step forward in the world of bioplastics," explains Marco Astorri, Chairman of Bio-on S.p.A., "because it demonstrates how waste can be converted into raw material, teaming concepts such as biodegradability and eco-sustainability with technically advanced plastics. This collaboration represents an important factor in the affirmation of PHA in the latest-generation plastics market."

AGREEMENT FOR DEVELOPING AND PRODUCING A MOLECULE FOR GREEN CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
Bologna, 16 February 2015 - A new collaboration is announced between two Italian companies operating in the sustainable chemical and agricultural industry, Bio-on S.p.A and Eridania Sadam S.p.A. The two companies will work together on defining and optimising the production of levulinic acid, a key molecule for the sustainable and low-impact future of the chemical industry. Already available on the international market, but in insufficient quantities, levulinic acid is currently obtained from industrial processes with an environmental impact that fails to meet European standards.
The new project aims to convert the by-products of the sugar industry into levulinic acid, optimising innovative processes that team environmental sustainability and the reduction of production costs. The integration between agriculture and advanced biochemistry will enable levulinic acid production solely from agricultural waste not intended for human food, with carbon atoms generated from carbon dioxide captured in the atmosphere with chlorophyllian photosynthesis.
The collaboration between Bio-on S.p.A. and Eridania Italia S.p.A. adds a further building block in the construction of the Italian green chemical industry. This natural molecule, which has immediate application in the biodegradable plastics sector, extending its field of application, also contributes towards the creation of new eco fuels, fertilisers and antiparasitics; it is also an intermediate element in the creation of high-performing plastics, medications and many other new "green" products.
